A. Yes, to obtain a Michigan Builders License you must first take a 60 hour prelicensure course from an approved provider.
Q. What happens if I do not complete this course?
A. You will not be able to get your application approved to take the exam until you have complete the 60 Hour Prelicensure Course.
Q. Am I required to obtain a Michigan Residential Code book?
A. Yes, all licensees are required to have a current edition of the Michigan Residential Codebook.
Q. What are the requirements to obtain your Michigan Residential Builders License?
A. Complete an approved State of Michigan 60 Hour Prelicensure Builders Course and obtain a certificate of completion from the provider. Submit your application to the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. You can download and application here: www.michigan.gov/buildersPass the builders exam.
